Koraat-Knives is a small family business. Near the Wachau, in the Nibelungengau, we have housed our factory on the ground floor of our home and produce razors of the highest possible quality and entirely by hand. Aside from my wife, Christine Weinberger, and me, Ulrik Beyer, there are no other employees. As a customer, you can therefore rely on the fact that we stand 100% behind each of our knives, as each one goes through our own hands without exception. Due to this way of working, our production quantities are rather small, so you are not purchasing mass-produced goods from us but rather a very individual product. I was originally a trained goldsmith, but discovered my passion for knife making before and during my goldsmith training. That's why I started my own business as a cutler in 2009. After initially specializing in utility and kitchen knives, I discovered my love for razors in mid-2010 and have specialized in them completely since then. Since 2015, I have been actively supported by my wife, who has learned all the work steps she carries out from me and subsequently developed them even further.
Products / Offers / Services
Our core product is razors individually tailored to our customers, which you can put together using our razor configurators. In addition, we also have a few series models that are cheaper in slightly larger batches thanks to optimized production processes. However, the production quality corresponds to that of the individual productions. We currently offer razors based on two different basic designs. One is a "Sheffield" design inspired by old English blades, with a very strong spine and a pronounced thumb recess. Secondly, we offer a design that is more reminiscent of the classic Solingen razors, more precisely the very popular historical “14” blades that were used by various old manufacturers. In contrast to these historical blades, our “14” blades, like our Sheffield Design blades, are designed with a slight curve in the cutting edge, the so-called “smile”. This allows for a more thorough and gentle cut of the beard hair and makes it easier to get a close shave in difficult areas, such as the dimples under the jawbone. In addition to straight razors, we also offer accessories for wet shaving. This is either produced as a contract, based on prototypes manufactured by us. This is the case, for example, with our shaving brushes, whose handles are made in Austria by a precision lathe. In other cases, such as shaving soaps and leather thongs, we buy in quality products to complement our range.
