ATTENTION - Danger of forest fires - regulation for the Melk administrative district

We have received the order from BH Melk that there is a risk of forest fire!

Please exercise extra caution in the forests and do not light fires near forests and do not throw away cigarettes.

In addition, no waste should be left behind, as this can also cause the forest to ignite due to the sun's rays!

8. Regulation
On July 31, 2024, the Melk district administration took measures for the purpose of pursuant to Section 41 (1) in conjunction with Section 170 (1) of the Forestry Act 1975, Federal Law Gazette No. 440/1975 in the version Federal Law Gazette I No. 56/2016 to prevent forest fires, prescribed:
Ordinance of the Melk District Authority, with which forest police measures are issued to prevent forest fires in the Melk administrative district - Forest Fire Ordinance 2024
Due to the prevailing weather conditions and the associated drought as well as the associated increased risk of forest fires, the following is issued in accordance with Section 41 Paragraph 1 of the Forestry Act 1975
REGULATION
§ 1
In the entire Melk administrative district, any fire-hazardous activities are prohibited in the forest and in its danger areas (near the forest), in particular
1. lighting a fire and/or maintaining a fire,
2. smoking,
3. throwing away burning or smoldering objects such as matches, cigarettes and other smoking products, but also glass bottles and broken glass (burning glass effect) and
4. the use of pyrotechnic items
forbidden.

A NOTICE:
The danger zone exists wherever the ground cover or wind conditions favor the spread of a ground fire or the spread of a fire through flying sparks into the neighboring forest.
§ 2
Violations of this regulation will be dealt with in accordance with Section 174 Paragraph 1 Letter a Item 17 of the Forestry Act 1975 as amended. punished with a fine of up to €7,270 or with a prison sentence of up to four weeks
§ 3
This regulation comes into force immediately after publication and is valid until revoked.
